# FAQ

### Repair & Service Policies

**Is there a diagnostic fee?**

Yes, there is a standard $39.99 diagnostic fee to properly identify the hardware or software issue with your machine. However, if you choose to proceed with the recommended repair, this fee is fully applied toward your final labor cost.

**Do I need to bring my cables and monitor?**

For standard desktop repairs, no. Please bring **only the computer tower itself**. You do not need to bring your power cable, mouse, keyboard, or monitor. For laptops, please *always* bring the original charging cable.

**Am I responsible for my data?**

**Yes.** While we take every precaution to protect your files, Seth Repairs is not responsible for data loss during hardware failures, virus removals, or OS reinstallations. We highly recommend backing up your important files to an external drive or cloud storage before bringing your device in for service.

**Do I *need* to drop off my computer?**

**No, not necessarily!** Some kinds of repair do not need a drop off, and can instead be solved instead by remotely connecting to the computer. This can be assessed on a case-by-case basis if drop-off or pick-up is not an accessible option or this becomes a more convenient option.

**What should I do before dropping off my device?**

We ask that you make sure that all of your important data is backed up, provided a Windows login written down if necessary, unplugged any USB accessories -- for example a wireless mouse dongle -- things of that nature.

### Custom PC Builds

**What is the warranty on custom builds?**

All custom PC assembly services come with a 30-day warranty on **labor**. If a cable comes loose or a driver needs reconfiguration within the first month, we will fix it at no charge. Hardware failures are covered by the individual manufacturer warranties (typically 1 to 3 years), and we can assist you with the RMA return process if a part fails.

**How long does a custom build take?**

If you already have all the parts on hand, assembly and testing generally takes 2 to 3 business days. If we are ordering parts for you, the timeline is typically 1 to 2 weeks, depending on component availability and shipping speeds.
